The first annual Heroes In Helmets event is a blending of the best from the BIAMI LAPS Walk and the Tips-Up for the Troops veteran bass fishing tournament. This much larger and more exciting event will provide us the opportunity to reunite with fellow brain injury awareness supporters while saying “thank-you” to some Michigan veterans and first responders who serve us.
Please join us in a day of celebration with food, fun, entertainment, and games. Proceeds will go to benefit all of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan programs that help by “Creating a Better Future through Education, Advocacy, Research, Support and Prevention.”
This year, the Tips-Up bass tournament for our veterans will be just one part of a much larger joint civilian and military family reunion style event. While the troops are “tackling” the big bass, everyone else will be enjoying the entertainment, Family Fun Walk, Classic Car Show, Midway displays, Farm Center and Nature Center tours, rides on the River Queen II boat, hay rides, swimming, canoeing, and the many other family oriented activities. So please plan on brining the whole family.
Attendees will be eligible for:
- Free participation in the “Tips-Up for the Troops” bass fishing tournament (Michigan Fishing License NOT Required). (Veterans only; pre-registration required).
- Family Fun Walk held to raise funds for the awareness and prevention of brain injury.
- Free “All-American” family style bar-b-q starting at 2:00 p.m.
- Free events start at 9:00 a.m. and go all day long: Canoeing; Classic Car Show, Midway displays, swimming, bike rides & in-line skating, Nature and Farm Center tours, and other activities/games. Bring your skates and bikes - helmets and safety equipment are required.
